Hong Kong Profits Tax Filing Deadlines

Hong Kong profits tax filing deadlines depend on the issued notice and any valid extension arrangements. A date quoted for another company or accounting year may not apply to yours.

Start with the notice Record the issue date, period, stated due date and responsible preparer. If a representative uses a block extension arrangement, confirm that it applies to the company and year rather than assuming every accountant receives the same date.

Separate preparation, filing and payment Accounts and audit work may need to be completed before filing. Tax payment dates appear on the relevant demand and should have separate reminders. An extension to submit a return should not be assumed to postpone payment.

Build an internal deadline Set document collection and review dates early enough to resolve missing records. List open issues and the person responsible for each. A return cannot be completed reliably while material figures keep changing without explanation.

If delay is likely Contact the representative promptly about the available procedure and required grounds. Do not assume an extension request has been granted until confirmed. Keep correspondence and act on official notices.

Use current year IRD guidance for the calendar. A company specific deadline record with a final submission acknowledgement is more reliable than a generic annual reminder copied from an article.
