BIR51 is the profits tax return for corporations. The issued return and current notes explain the information and declarations required for the relevant year. It is distinct from the Companies Registry annual return NAR1.
Read the complete filing package Check the period, deadline, supplementary forms and required attachments. Do not assume the obligations are identical to a previous year's paper form. Electronic filing and supporting document formats may apply under current rules.
Prepare reconciled figures Use the accounts and tax computation to support entries. Review business activity, ownership and connected entity information where relevant. Resolve discrepancies before signing rather than hoping a later explanatory email will repair an inaccurate declaration.
Confirm authority The person acting for the company must have the appropriate authority. If an agent prepares the return, agree who reviews and approves it and how the acknowledgement will be delivered to the company.
Retain the whole record Keep the submitted form, attachments, computation and evidence. A screenshot of the confirmation does not replace a copy of what was actually filed.
If a return arrives for a company with little or no activity, ask the preparer how it should be completed. Do not discard it on the assumption that no revenue means no filing requirement. Work from the issued notice and the company's circumstances.
