NAR1 Form Guide for Hong Kong Private Companies

NAR1 is the annual return form used for the relevant local company filing, including Hong Kong private companies. Its purpose is to report prescribed corporate information, so preparation should begin with the company's current statutory records.

Use the correct reference date Identify the applicable return date before entering particulars. A change after that date may need to be handled differently from a change already effective. Follow the form's instructions rather than mixing details from several points in time.

Gather the supporting information Prepare the legal name and identifier, registered office, officer details and required share and member information. Check continuation pages and other required sections. Complex ownership or share arrangements may need additional care.

Review before signing Compare the draft with the company's records and relevant filings. Confirm that the person signing has the appropriate authority and that the form is complete. An internal approval email is useful evidence of review but does not replace the required signature or submission.

Track the actual filing Keep the submitted version, payment record and acceptance or receipt information. If the Registry raises a query, record who is resolving it and whether the deadline remains a concern.

The official specimen is a reference, not a personalised answer for every company. Avoid copying another company's completed form and changing only the name. Start with your own records and the current instructions so the return accurately describes the company at the required date.
