Hong Kong Business Account KYC Requirements

Know Your Customer checks identify the people connected with an account relationship. For a company application, that can include directors, beneficial owners and authorised signatories rather than only the person filling in the form.

Match each person to a role Create a list showing why each individual is included and which evidence the provider requests. A shareholder who does not operate the account may still need verification. An employee with payment authority may need checks even without owning shares.

Check document quality Use the accepted identity document and complete address evidence. Ensure names, dates and images are readable. Explain transliteration differences and recent address changes. Do not edit a document to make it appear to match another record.

If certification or translation is required, follow the provider's exact rules. The accepted certifier and wording can matter as much as the stamp itself.

Answer the actual discrepancy Suppose an identity document uses a full legal name while the application uses a shortened everyday name. Correct the application or explain the relationship using accepted evidence. Uploading the same unclear file repeatedly does not resolve the mismatch.

Keep sensitive records in the provider's secure upload process and limit internal access to people who need them. Initial sales conversations should not require account passwords or complete identity packs.

KYC can be refreshed after approval when documents expire or circumstances change. Maintain a current contact route and respond to legitimate requests through verified official channels.
